Scout it Out!

Scout workshops at the Detroit Science Center offer hands-on activities and themed educational programs. Each program is designed to fulfill badge/pin requirements while providing scouts with a unique experience. Programs offered fulfill Brownie Try-Its, Junior Girl Scout Patches, Cadette/Sr. Girl Scout Interest Projects, Cub Scout Academic Programs, Webelos Pins, and Boy Scout Merit Badges.

Scout camp-ins offer scouts hands-on fun in a one-of-a-kind, learning environment. Overnight programs include theme-related activities, snack, breakfast, and IMAX Dome Theater film.

Cub Scout academic program workshops are open to Tigers, Wolf, Bear and Webelos scouts.

■ For Cadette and Sr. Girl Scouts Chemistry Pre-requisites click here.

■ Workshop includes Science Center patch for scouts only.
■ Cadette/Senior Girl scouts also may register for Boy Scout Merit Badge workshops.
■ Maximum of 60 scouts for Cadette/Senior and Boy Scouts workshops.
■ Scouts must be 1st class scout or 13 years old for Boy Scout programs.

 


 

Additional Notables:


■ Scouts should bring a bag lunch to the Science Center. Time will be scheduled during each workshop to eat. Food and beverages are also available for purchase in the Science Café.

 

■ Scouts should plan to wear their scout uniforms.

 

■ The Science Center requires a 1 adult/10 scouts chaperone ratio for workshops. Additional adults must pay the adult workshop fee. *Cost is per adult exceeding the required 1-to-10 chaperone ratio.
