Scout Camp-ins


Overnight Fun!
Camp-Ins at the Detroit Science Center offer one-of-a-kind experiences for troops eager to learn about science in one of the most unique scouting environments in Detroit. Each camp-in includes theme-related activities, a late-night snack, nutritious breakfast and a morning Chrysler IMAX® Dome Theatre film. All participants receive a Science Center patch. Wizards Academy Part II                  Cost: $30.00                   Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Let us put a spell on your troop with our Wizards Academy Part II. Expanding on our ever-popular first Wizards Academy, the Science Center’s second session will have scouts concocting new potions and exploring more experiments from many areas of science including chemistry, physics and biology. Participation in our first Wizards

Academy program is not required.

DSC: Science Detective                Cost: $30.00                   Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Calling all scouting sleuths! Prepare yourself for an overnight mystery and interactive, crime-solving experience with this camp-in favorite. Using detective skills, participants will jump into the basics of forensic science by collecting clues, conducting experiments and studying fingerprints to solve a crime.

Star Search                   Cost: $30.00                   Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Shake and rumble with your scouts in our new rocket laboratory, go star gazing in the Dassault Systèmes Planetarium and have fun with many other out-of-this-world activities during this overnight adventure. Where else can you learn how rockets work and launch your very own rocket to the planets without ever leaving the city limits?

Camp-In Notables:

·The Science Center requires a 1 adult/10 scout chaperone ratio for Camp-Ins.  All chaperones must
pay the $30 Camp-In fee.
· A minimum of 50 participants are required and a maximum of 200 participants are allowed per
Camp-In.
· Balance and final count due two weeks before start of program.
· All sales final and non-refundable.
