Diabetes: A Deeper Look
In the United States, a person is diagnosed with diabetes every 21 seconds. Science centers and museums can now help their communities better understand this growing health epidemic with a fun, yet informative, traveling exhibition Diabetes: A Deeper Look created by Detroit Science Center Design and Exhibits.
Exhibition Features:
- Diabetes: A Deeper Look is a giant blood vessel with 40,000 LED lights pulsating to the sound of a heartbeat.
- Features a collection of 22 educational and informative exhibits and displays.

The ideal space for this experience is 3,200 sq ft. and a minimum ceiling Height: 16’ (can work with 15’).
- Interactive highlights include Glucose Range games, the Rappin’ Refrigerator, an injection simulator, Great Weight Wheels, Exercise: What Works for You equipment, a moving balance exhibit and more.
Cost and Terms of Rental:
The diabetes exhibit is available to lease for $5,000, plus in-bound shipping. Contact the Detroit Science Center’s traveling exhibition director for a shipping quote. Cost includes install and takedown management assistance with two Detroit Science Center Design & Exhibits experts and a communications tool kit with educator resources (guide and newspaper supplement), advertising, publicity and templates.

Diabetes: A Deeper Look is available to book in three to six month segments beginning September 2011. Previous tour stops include the Liberty Science Center, Orlando Science Center, Boston’s Museum of Science and the Maryland Science Center.
